Hunt Story

My Dad and I had lots of pictures of this deer. We knew he was an old mature deer and agreed he needed to be shot. The previous afternoon , I saw him, but he was out of range and it was too dark. I hunted the same stand the next afternoon. I had seen some does and he showed back up early enough for me to get a shot. He was about 25 yds broadside when I shot. I hit him a little back. He kicked and walked off where he came from. After checking the arrow, we knew we needed to give him plenty of time to bed down. We contacted Chad Yoder and his dog, we decided to wait until first thing the next morning to track him. We started at daylight and the dog made quick work of recovering the buck. He had only gone about 150 yards and bedded down. This was my first buck with a bow.
