Hunt Story
Me and my husband have been hunting this stand since the start of bow season. Had a few successful sits seeing multiple does and small bucks. But not the one we were looking for. My husband decided to move the stand two weekends ago to try and get closer to where the larger bucks were bedding. The first day we went into the woods we got there at 3:00, and my husband checked the trail camera and the buck had come through an hour before we were there. Needless to say we saw zero deer. The wind finally was right on Sept. 30 last Sunday, and we decided to go get into the tree. As we walked in we noticed a lot more acorns had fallen since the last time we were there. We sat from 3:00 to 6:55 without seeing a deer, needless to say I was ready to go at seven. My husband talked me into staying until dark, and I am sure glad he did. My buck came in making a scrape to the left of us. After he finished making the scrape, he came in on a string go to 20 yards and I took my shot. I made a great shot but my arrow did not pass through. After letting the deer lay for 30 agonizing minutes, my husband (Dylan Peppers) finally let us go track him. For 30 yards we had great blood, but after that it disappeared. We called in Nicholas Skinner off the GON website and within 25 minutes we found my buck.
