Hunt Story

I got my first buck kill Sunday afternoon in south Georgia in Worth County. I have only had my bow three weeks before opening day, so I Starting practicing right away every day before opening day! Sett myself a bow stand up on some awesome trails I had found on my husband's farm land, and went from there. Saw a few does and an okay 8-point opening day morning. I took some pictures and showed my friends who got me hooked on bowhunting what I had seen—the few does and that little buck—told them wasn't anything I wanted to shoot, but since I've never killed one before, they kept telling me to shot a doe to get the jitters out! I wasn't really worried about the jitters but went ahead and shot a doe Saturday evening and made a great shot, went right through her and she fell within 20 yards. And boy were they right, shooting a doe with your bow is nothing like shooting one with a rifle! So after that I was so ready for that big buck I have had my eyes on. So Sunday afternoon after the rain had eased off, I had to go sit in the stand, it was killing me! It was all I could think about even though the wind was blowing really hard, I had to go try! And around 7:30 p.m., he came running right to me. I saw him coming from 50 yards coming fast. I only had two shooting lanes cut, and he was running right into my 30-yard line, so I went ahead and drew back and waited on him to get there. I yelled to get him to stop, and that couldn't have worked any more perfect. He stopped on a dime sideways so I could get a perfect heart shot!
