Hunt Story
I got into my climber about 7:00 AM after my camera captured an image of him in front of it at 6:00 AM, scraping the ground. This was the second time I had seen him on camera and I decided to wait and give him time to move away from my setup on the trail. Ten minutes of me being up in the tree a doe and young eight-point buck appeared behind me, and the buck was chasing her, grunting loudly, with other bucks grunting in the distance. They eventually moved on where I couldn't see them. After 45 minutes, I spotted another doe running back towards me, followed by a larger buck, but they were too far away for a clear sho. They ran back and forth in that area so I decided to moved my climber to a better location near where I had last seen them running and where Id placed some corn a few days earlier. That was around 9 am. Then at 10 am the buck returned, walking down the same trail by himself this time and stopping right where I had placed the corn. He was approximately 15 yards away from me, so I had to remain quiet and still. He looked up at me one time and I thought I was done for, but he went back to eating and I watched him for a while before taking aim and shooting him, despite having a broken brow tine. He turned out to be bigger than I had initially thought.
