Hunt Story

This buck has shown up on cams for the last couple of years. He's been easy to keep up with because he lost his right eye two years ago, presumably fighting. I've gotten a bunch of trail-cam photos, but never during daylight until last week. The 1st day he daylighted in the am, the wind was wrong for an evening hunt. Two days later he daylighted again in the morning, and we had a NNE wind which was perfect for the set. My daughter Hadleigh (17 yrs old) has hunted basically her whole life & got her first deer at 6 years old. She's killed several bucks on our 2 farms here in North Georgia and many does too. The last few years, she has not hunted because of a busy schedule with school, cheerleading, friends, boyfriends ?, etc. When I called her to see if she wanted to hunt I fully expected her to already have plans, especially considering football season just ended at her high school & she still has basketball games to cheer at. To my surprise, she responded with an immediate "YES I want to go!" We saw several smaller bucks pushing does around but all of the movement was during the last 45 minutes of shooting light. At the very last minute, literally, he stepped out and gave her a perfect broadside shot. She made a perfect shot with the same 6.5 Grendel rifle that she has killed so many other deer with over the years. It was an amazing afternoon & evening with my daughter making memories that will last forever! The hunts with my kids are without question the most memorable & rewarding hunts that I have been blessed to be a part of!
