Hunt Story

This was Tripp's first hunt behind the gun. All about him. After striking out on the morning hunt, we made a move to a newly positioned double ladder overlooking a persimmon tree that was on fire with sign and surrounded by raining white oaks. After a close encounter with two does walking in with no shot opportunity, we settled in for the evening hunt. Just at sunset we glimpsed this buck feeding his way around the persimmon. After a few nervous and intense minutes with failing light, he finally presented the broadside shot Tripp needed. 27 years and just 150 yards away from where I (his father) had taken my first deer, the future of our sport took another step forward. The celebration and excitement was something we will never forget. To top it all off, his best buddy, who took his first deer that morning, had just shot his first buck 30 minutes prior across the property. Proud fathers welcomed the work we had ahead of us the rest of the night. An amazing day in the woods that will be cherished for a lifetime.
