Hunt Story

My name is Greg Wade and I have been a GON subscriber for years. On November 9th, 2018, I went hunting around 3 PM. I was hoping the deer were moving although it was raining off and on. It would pour down at times, but my tripod had a roof on it. I did have to stand up some to keep my head dry. I was starting to worry as time was slipping on by and I didn't want it to get dark on me. I had seen an 8-point buck previously run across the field, but I couldn't get a shot on him. Two does crossed and I had hoped they would bring the buck back out but as it turned out, they didn't. A larger buck wandered out and was crossing the field and stopped just in time for me to make a 200-yard shot. It paid off. The deer went about 60 yards and dropped. He didn't leave much of a blood trail so it took a bit to find him. Everything was still dripping wet. Finally I saw him laying on the ground, a big bodied deer. I also had a nice deer pictured back in the July 2002 issue of GON off that same property. Thanks, Greg Wade
