Hunt Story

This was my third season hunting and trail camera pictures of this buck that I named "Skyscraper." I also have the right side shed from two years ago. I have only seen him two times out of the stand. One was the last weekend of last season, which he did not offer me a bow shot and on this past Sunday evening. I only bow hunt, and I have been hoping to shoot a Pope & Young buck for 40 years. "Skyscraper" gave me a 15-yard broadside shot, and my three blade Rage out of my Diamond Black Ice bow center punched his heart. I do believe I have achieved a lifetime goal with him. We gave him 1 hour before we started tracking and it was only 70 to 80 yards before we found him. He was full velvet just waiting to fall off as you can see in the picture. I would like to thank Mike Deems, Jay Austin, and most of all, Little Bit for helping me track him. Little Bit is our family miniature dachshund dog. This was only the second deer that she has ever tracked, and she went straight to both on them. That’s not bad for a dog that has been hit twice by cars going 55 plus and once run over by a golf cart. We all had a laugh when we got about 20 yards from "Skyscraper." Little Bit bristled up and started to growl. We knew that we were close and after another five steps or so we spotted him. After the three year quest for "Skyscraper," the excitement was as good as I thought it would be, and that more special to share it with my family. I know that I was one blessed hunter Sunday evening and with God willing, I hope to enjoy many more hunts.
