My last buck was a double main beam 16-point four years ago this week. I have been looking for a heavy rack 8pt ever since. There was a great deal of chasing going on in the tall quail native grass fields above our food plots. It was difficult to determine the racks of the bucks as the grass is high and the rack's color blended into the grass. They would also vanish when they would put their nose to the ground to stay on the scent. I couldn't shoot without knowing what I was shooting. I was packing up to meet my 10 a.m. ride when a doe was pushed from the oaks into the lower grass between the plot and the quail field. The heavy-bodied buck soon appeared broadside. The lower grass allowed me to see the heavy and tall rack plus the full body. I dropped him in his tracks at 175 yards. I shot at 9:53 and my ride pulled up at 10 a.m.
