Hunt Story
I’ve seen this deer 3-4 times the last few years and even clicked the safety off on him last year but he had some busted up tines so I decided not to shoot and preferred to hunt him with bow anyway. This season he came in on me 4 or 5 mornings before I killed him to 20 yards facing me with my recurve in hand but he smelled me and bounced back to 30 and I am just not proficient at that distance with recurve. I was worried he would draw attention from neighboring property because he liked to hang out in an open area where a lot of does frequented so I broke out my muzzleloader in the middle of rifle season and went to the woods before work, and sure enough he was in there. He was 160 yards and he dropped right where he was standing. He is the widest deer I’ve ever killed.
