Hunt Story
Five days after killing a 150” buck I decided to try again. I told a friend was I hunting with there is only one deer I am wanting to use my last tag on. I had been watching this deer for three years after I had a run-in with him on 11/26/21. I have watched him grow into a monster and was ready to tag him after playing cat and mouse with him last year. After 2 days of hard hunting we would soon have our final encounter. On the cold morning of 11/3/23 I decided I would go back to the last spot I encountered him a couple of years ago. After seeing small bucks and spikes chasing does I decided to break out the grunt call. After a couple of aggressive grunts two bucks would make their way towards me. The two bucks grunted back and the fight was on. Unfortunately it was too thick for me to see the fight. The winner of the fight started to make his way back to the bedding area. So I grabbed the call and let out two soft grunts. After a few moments I sprayed some doe pee out of the stand and the buck just couldn’t resist. The buck slowly made its way to me. The buck began making scrapes and rubs along the way trying to show his dominance. After looking throw my binoculars at him I knew this was the deer I had been chasing the last 2 years. The buck made his way to the stand and at 15 yards my chase was finally over. I never thought that after killing a 150” just 5 days prior, I would get the opportunity to kill and even bigger buck. The deer was a once-in-a-lifetime buck and I couldn’t ask for a better way to end my season.
