Hunt Story
We live on a 140-acre tract of land in Monroe County. We had seen this buck before in early November from our driveway in the front food plot. But the deer hadn't really daylighted since. Family was headed to a New Years party around 6:30 and three bucks (including him) run across our driveway in front of us. I checked camera and he was on food plot during daylight that day. So the next day we went and sat in the barn hoping he would do it again. Was getting late in evening and does finally started to show up. about 8 or 9 does had come in the field and one blew and the whole field exited. Well we thought it's over running out of daylight, we decided to stay a few more minutes a couple of the does popped back out and through the pines the train of three bucks was coming. When they popped out into the food plot the younger 8 got there first and Gage was on him and the 11 pt. he shot ran him off. When he stopped he pulled the trigger and that was that. I was his first time hunting w/ his Great Grand Dads .30-6. Gage had been shooting a 6mm Remington for years and killed numerous does and smaller bucks, but had lost 3 mature deer well over 350" or more over the past few years and decided it was time to shoot a bigger caliber rifle. And the curse/bad luck ended (hopefully) that evening.
