I have been hunting a different deer for about three weeks, but haven’t been able to locate it. When this one came along, it was the first time I had ever seen it. I made a 40-yard shot out of a ground blind around 6:30 in the evening. I called my friends, Craig and Wesley Butler, over to help me track the deer. We followed a blood trail for about 600 yards and then the trail disappeared. We decided to wait until the next morning to try again. We found the deer about a quarter of a mile away from the blind. It was hard to get the deer out of the woods because it weighed 218 pounds field-dressed.
