Hunt Story

The morning of the hunt my son mentioned that I needed to hunt the stand close to where I jumped the big-bodied deer Thanksgiving morning. I told him that was a good idea but he would need to point the stand out to me since it would be dark and hard to find. As we walked down the trail, he pointed to where I needed to go and he continued on to the spot where he was going to hunt. Around 7:39 AM, I saw a big doe walking and feeding on acorns. Right behind her was another doe. I was concentrated on the does when I caught movement behind them. I could not believe my eyes when I saw him. As he walked behind the does, I was able to get into position to shoot when he got between me and a tree. Once I shot him I could not believe it. I called my son and told him I just shot a giant. He couldn't wait any longer so he got down and headed toward me. He waited until I climbed down, and we walked over together to see the buck. When we laid eyes on him for the first time together, we couldn't believe what we saw. It was by far the biggest deer I have ever killed. We had him on camera three times last year and one time this year. I was just glad my son was there to experience this day with me. It will definitely be a day he and I will never forget!
