Hunt Story

After missing this same buck during bow season, I was ecstatic to have another shot at him. A little while after getting to the stand, four small bucks entered the food plot. About 30 minutes later, with all four of the small bucks still feeding, the big buck entered the food plot. After viewing him through my binoculars (and my husband viewing the buck through his binoculars as well) I quickly was able to identify this was the buck I was after. I then positioned my rifle for a shot, removed the safety, and squeezed the trigger. The deer ran into the brush, and we could hear a crash. After waiting several minutes we exited the stand and walked to the place the buck was when I shot, with a fair amount of blood on the ground, we went to the truck to get our 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier, Spud Jr. We brought him back to the food plot and within a few short minutes he had found my buck, only about 50 yards from where he was shot.
