Hunt Story

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to go hunting being I came down sick the weekend before with strep throat, but thankfully I got to feeling better. It was the first hunt of the season for my ladder stand being I was saving it for the prime rut time. I climbed up in my stand, and not long after sitting there I started seeing deer. I saw a 6-point but let him walk because he wasn't what I was looking for. My dad got a good picture of a 12-point the weekend before that I was hoping to get. Around 8:15 I hear a gunshot in my dad's direction, and my heart just dropped. I texted him to see what he got, and to my relief he texted back that it was an 8-point. The morning goes by and I see several small bucks and does but not the big buck. At around 10:45 I hear some noise to my left that sounded like something running. I look and see a small doe coming in a dead run with a large buck chasing her. I pulled up my gun and shoot and he is still running, so I shoot 2 more times until he goes out of sight. My dad shows up about 10 minutes after I shoot, and I tell him I shot the big one. I get down out of the stand and take him to where I shot him first and see blood. I am tickled because the blood trail looks like it has been poured out of a 5 gallon bucket. My dad texts our friend Chris and tells him that I shot the big one, and he wants us to wait on him. Chris shows up, and we start tracking and find him about 30 yards away. I start counting points and find out to my amazement he is not a 12-point but a 15-point.
