The evening started off slow. Finally around 7:30 a couple small bucks came out and started feeding. Then a little later a few does and a couple more small bucks came out. As soon as they got out in the field the big buck finally stepped out of the woods. He ran several of the small bucks off and began making scrapes along the field edge. I watched him make 2 scrapes and start heading back into the woods. A smaller buck started heading my way and that made the big buck turn and start in my direction. When he got to 25 yards I drew my bow and waited for him to turn broadside. Once he turned I let my arrow fly! He was bulldozing the ground with his chest as he ran away and I knew he wouldn’t go far. He went 60 yards into the edge of the woods and fell.
