Hunt Story

After missing this deer last season with a bow, and watching him in the off season on camera, he was on the top of my hit list this season. I went to my food plot around 5:00 with some new broadheads and had decided I would try them out on the first big doe that came in. At 7:20 she came in and I made a good shot. I called my dad and he told me to sit tight for about 30 minutes and he would come get me at dark. Right at dark I saw a big body and horns coming, and I knew exactly what deer it was. I knew I could not get a shot if he stayed in the woods because it would have been too dark. Lucky for me he came out into the middle of my food plot and stopped at 22 yards. I took a broadside shot and I heard him crash in the woods to my right. I called my dad again to let him know I had just shot my buck. He said we needed to give the deer at least 45 minutes so we wouldn't bump him. I stayed in the stand until he came. The deer fell right were I thought...about 50 yards from my stand.
