Hunt Story
Met up with an old friend who I had not seen in several years at a cabin on a small tract of land in Forsyth County. We decided to sit and watch the back yard, nice green field, while we discussed old adventures and the past couple of year's health issues we had both been dealing with. While the day was extremely slow (conversation was not), late afternoon produced one buck who worked his way up the creek bottom and eventually jumped up the bank into the greenfield. I only had to wait a couple of minutes before he came close enough to present a clean shot with a Horton crossbow. The shot looked a little low, so we decided to wait about 35 minutes before beginning recovery. Even though the shot was a little low, it was a direct heart shot and the deer only ran about 40 yards up the creek bottom. While the deer was not the "booner" we had hoped for, is was still a trophy. Actually, just the icing on the cake, to a wonderful day spent in the outdoors reminiscing with my old friend.
