Hunt Story

Got in the stand around 4:30 p.m. Two small bucks came out and one attempted to start a scrape, but stopped. Several young yearlings came out as well. About 6:35 p.m., this buck came out and began making about 3 different scrapes. I debated taking him even though he was a nice buck, but decided I needed meat in the freezer more than antlers. Approximately 7:00 p.m., he gave me another nice neck shot, so I took it and he fell where he was shot. I attempted three different times to load him myself, but he was just over my load. I called one of my assistant men's soccer coaches to come help, and after getting him to the deer processor, I was told he was 240 pounds so no wonder I was unable to get him loaded. He was in full rut, swollen neck and stunk.
