Hunt Story

I was hunting a shooting lane near my property line next to a peanut field that had already been harvested. About 7:20 am a decent 8-point stepped out at about 200 yards. I passed him up because he wasn't what I was looking for. Soon after that a small doe ran across the lane with another small buck chasing her. In the next 10 minutes I saw five different bucks chasing that one doe. After about 10 minutes of watching all that chasing, this one stepped out at 220 yards. After I shot, the deer ran like I had not touched him. All the other deer were still chasing and crossing the shooting lane, so I sat tight waiting for the big eight. I thought I had missed to come back. After about 20 minutes a doe stepped out where the big one was standing and kept stomping the ground. I then realized that the buck was probably laying right there. After a quick 220 yard walk, he was laying 5 steps from where I shot him.
