Hunt Story

I knew that the buck was in the area and had been trying to pin point his favorite location and pattern some of his habits. On November the 5th, I spotted him crossing an open area and could not get a clean shot on him. Although I was disappointed, I was able to figure out exactly where he was coming from. The following day on the morning hunt there was no sign of him, and I had to leave to return to work on Monday. All that week I kept running each sighting or camera to confirm his bedding area. The following weekend I made it to an area downwind from his location a little before day light and sat on the ground. At just before 8 a.m. a doe came running in from behind me and stopped about 40 yards to my right, so I turned to look behind her when he stepped out of the thicket. As he ran toward her, I made a bleep sound to stop him and was able to make a clean shot. The buck ran toward me and dropped about 30 yards behind me. This was truly one of the hardest deer that I've ever hunted.
