Hunt Story

I could hear several deer moving while on my way to the stand in the darkness. At first light, I saw a couple of small bucks moving around. About 30 minutes later I heard a buck grunt in front of me, but the smaller bucks had moved behind me. I heard running, limbs popping and another grunt out in front, pulled my gun up and readied. A doe stepped out in a lane, then moved across into another thicker area. I caught movement behind in the thicket where the doe had emerged. I immediately knew it had a rack but couldn't tell how big he was. He stood motionless for several minutes, then finally moved his head sufficiently to tell he was a shooter, however, several small trees were overlying his shoulder preventing a shot. I kept the crosshairs on his vitals, then finally he turned to the right allowing a quartering to shot at the base of the neck. He dropped in his tracks.
