Hunt Story
A doe came out in the middle of the food plot, didn't see how it came in. It fed around the small plants in the middle. I shot it, and it ran toward me and died about 30 yards away. I reloaded my single shot H&R .270 and was ready in case of another deer. In just a few minutes, I heard a deer at the edge of the clearcut, looked through my scope and counted at least 4 points on one side. I had already gotten a 4-point buck on the 24th of last month. After seeing the 4 points, I shot the buck broadside at about 25 yards, it dropped straight down. It didn't struggle or move. The two deer were less than 10 yards apart. Recovery was hard because it began to rain really hard. In my photo with the buck, I'm soaked to the bone. Buck was so heavy it took me, 6'3" & 270 lbs and my buddy Allen Jones, 5'10" & 235 lbs, 25 minutes to get him on the 4-wheeler.
