Hunt Story

Instead of walking on the 4-wheeler trail, I stalked thru the woods upwind to my box stand around 4 p.m. I believe this buck had patterned me during bow season because If I changed stands, he always showed up at a different stand on the property that wasn't being hunted. A nanny doe and her yearling had just come to the feeder around 6:30 p.m. and was beginning to feed when they became startled and moved away from the feeder. This wasn't unusual because of a doe named "Granny" who's been the dominant doe on this property for the last 5 years. She would chase the other deer away when she wanted to feed. However today it wasn't Granny, it was "Crab claw" an old 11-pointer that we first saw on our basement door Blink security camera. The big 11-pointer gave me a 15-yard. broadside heart shot from my 300 suppressed blackout and ran off about 30 yards before crashing into the leaves. He is one of the largest bucks I've ever harvested and I believe he will score around 150.
