Hunt Story

I woke up early hoping it wasn't raining as it has be the last few weekends. I drove the 40 minutes to get to the club in misty rain and fog. The roads are very muddy due to all the rain we have been having. I got ready and decided that morning to hunt a new area of the club I had found. This is my first year in the club, so I have been scouting during the day after hunting the morning. I got to the stand about 7 a.m., and with the fog and clouds it didn't get light until around 7:30 or so. As it got light you could see that the clouds were trying to break up. The morning was slow and quiet with not even a bird making any noise. I was sitting in the stand at about 9:30 and saw a deer running to my right moving left in front of me at about 40 yards and saw it was a doe. I got my gun up and was looking her when she stopped. I then heard a grunt to my right and saw a nice buck coming, and when he got near the doe he stopped and I dropped him with 1 shot. The doe ran back to my right and turned to go up behind me. Since I needed more meat, she stopped and I dropped her also. I reloaded my gun and started to text my son in law when I saw movement to my right and heard a grunt and when I looked it was a bigger buck coming down the same trail but stopped behind some trees and thick brush. I could see his head and neck, so I put the crosshairs just below his head and pulled the trigger and he dropped in his tracks. This all happened in less than 2 minutes, and I had 2 nice 9-pointers and a doe and one being the biggest buck I had ever killed!! Then the work started as it took 3 hours to get the deer out and to the truck as I had taken my deer cart out of my truck. I have hunted for over 40 years and this is the best day of hunting I ever had!!
