Hunt Story

I have to give credit where credit is due and couldn’t have landed this amazing buck without the help of Eric Asbell, owner of Black Creek Plantation. We knew there was a big buck in the area based in the scrapes we had found. I had set up that morning overlooking a food plot that we had seen does running around in. Monday morning was calm, cold and clear, and a few minutes after 8:00 the buck popped out about 80 yards in front of me. He turned broadside and buck fever hit, first shot sailed high. For some reason this buck only bounded another 50 yards and stopped, I had caught ahold of myself and sent another round off at him at 130 yards, quartering away. Round entered on his right rear side through the rib cage and tracked perfectly to his front left shoulder. Buck went perhaps 50 yards and made for easy recovery work since he dropped right in a two track. Truly blessed to have taken this buck and to have the help of Eric who has put up with quite a few rookie questions and mistakes over the last three seasons.
