Hunt Story

This buck had been caught on my camera a couple of weeks prior to our meeting. I knew he was in the area and was hoping I would get a chance to see him. On October 25 he stepped out into the clearing, and I proceed to watch him join the field with the does. As I got my rifle ready, I mis fired and shot directly in the air. The does cleared along with my buck. I was crushed and could not believe I had such an unforgivable mistake. I went to call my mother to come pick me up, who was hunting in another stand on the property, only to find out my phone had died. Somewhat stranded because I had no way of transportation to leave my stand or get in touch with anybody I decided to sit and wait to get picked up at my normal time. I sat for another 45 minutes in shock and could not believe I blew my shot. All of a sudden I heard something to my left and looked up and there he stood about 20 yards away. I readjusted my rifle and shot. I didn't give my scope time to focus and so I missed him. Instead of running off again he stood completely still and in place. I had time to reload and give him just one more shot . Plus I only had 3 bullets with me. I took my third shot and took him. I sat in the stand and said a prayer and waited to be picked up. He was recovered 50 yards away from my stand.
