Hunt Story

Courtney Mayfield came home from Georgia Military College to study for a final with her high school math teacher. Her dad saw it as a perfect opportunity to get an extra hunt in. Courtney climbed into a ladder stand in the hardwoods of Bostwick at about 3:30. By 4:20 she sent her dad a text that there were two does so close that she could hear them chewing acorns. Her dad texted her back saying, "Good, be ready for a buck." About 5 minutes later the buck stepped out from the same trail the does had come in on. Courtney raised her rifle and and placed the perfect shot. The buck only ran about 20 yards before going down. Courtney waited in the stand for her dad to join her. He dad drove up in the truck and spotted the deer. Courtney climbed down and joined her dad in celebrating the harvest. All the while, those two does stayed around watching the celebration.
