Hunt Story
Conner and I were sitting in the stand. We were getting ready to climb down from the morning hunt. We didn't see any deer all morning, but then I saw the buck running across the cutover. At first, I didn't realize how big the deer was. We both took a deep breath because this was going to be Conner's very first deer so we wanted to get it. So when we saw the deer, I used my grunt call and the buck turned toward us. He stopped at about 145 yards out facing us. I asked Conner if he was ready to shoot and if he was up to it, he said he had him in the crosshairs. I told him to breathe and then squeeze the trigger. Conner was able to keep the crosshairs on his chest and make a clean shot. The deer ran about 60 yards and then we recovered him from there.
