Hunt Story
Colt hasn't got to hunt much with lessons and travel ball. But he wanted to go Friday afternoon and we sat in a stand no one has hunted all year. He wanted to kill a mature buck or doe. But I told him if one of the older spikes comes out he is welcome to take it. He acted disinterested in harvesting a spike but I told him whatever got him excited. About 5:30 a deer stepped out and I glassed it and saw it was a spike. I told Colt it was a spike and he said Dad I want to take it. I told him go ahead and he made a perfect shot and it didn't run but about 75 yards. Watching him get excited about taking a deer and watching him trail the blood and helping drag it out is so satisfying as a dad. My dad, brother and myself have had this lease in Putnam county for 27 years. We recently found out the land sold to another owner and we are heartbroken as we will be losing this lease. So many memories but hopeful we might can find another lease before next season.
