Hunt Story

We were sitting on a wooded fence line between 2 hay fields. We had seen the buck the previous evening with a group of does and got to witness him fighting a younger buck. The following morning, we sat in a permanent stand closer to that end of the field. As we watched does drift in and out of the field, I looked over my shoulder and saw him in the field behind us. It was a long shot with limbs in the way. Luckily, the buck made his way down the fence line and stepped in an opening through the trees just 40 yards away. My son made a wonderful shot and the buck bolted about 20 yards and fell stone dead. It was the happiest I remember ever being on a hunt. My so. Had missed 2 other bucks (not this big), a couple weeks earlier, so it was great getting to see him redeem himself and make a clean kill. It is his 3rd deer, and his biggest by far.
