Hunt Story
I’ve been after this buck all season. It was Monday morning, 11/13. I had taken vacation time the previous week but ended up trading one of the hot days mid week for the following Monday. So it was my 15th sit over 9 days and honestly I was not very excited about going. Activity had been limited but I just knew it had to bust open at some point. At 7:30, a 2-year-old 8-point pushed a doe by the stand out of sight to my left. I then see that same doe run back across in front of me and assumed she was being pushed by the same 2-year-old buck. Little did I know it was this buck instead and he ran across my only shooting lane out of sight with no desire to stop, despite my best efforts to stop him. At this point I’m in the dumps. I keep the gun up and ready, hoping the doe brings him back across. 9 minutes later I see movement at the very end of the lane about 130 yards out. With the gun up and ready, I see that it’s him. He walks straight up the lane to me. At 100 yards out, I made the shot and he dropped right there. Blessed to be able to chase these beautiful creatures. To God be the glory.
