Hunt Story
My stand was located at the edge of a white oak hardwood ridge and a palmetto/swamp bottom. I had been in the stand approximately one and a half hours, had not seen any activity and it had started to rain. I stood up to get my rain coat out of my backpack. As I turned around I saw a buck about 10-15 yards from my stand! The buck was cautiously feeding and looking around. I could see at the time what I thought was 4 points on one side, what I knew was a good buck! When he looked down, I put my rain coat down, and slowly picked my gun up. He was somewhat facing straight toward me. I don't know if he smelled me, saw me, or sensed trouble, but he took a hard step and turned, that is when I shot. He ran about 30 yards into the palmettos and fell!
