Hunt Story

Started out clear and cool Wednesday Nov. 7. I got up around 6:00 am and went to a ladder stand in the far northwest corner of our property. This stand has a great deal of sentimental value for everyone in our family. The reason is that it was our dad's favorite stand until he passed six years ago. I had been hunting this stand a lot this year because of a great deal of buck sign in the area. I had not been in this stand for a couple of days because of weather and time. After getting to the stand I put out two scent sticks with code red doe in heat scent and got situated in the stand. After about a half hour I saw a deer on my right, I checked with my scope and confirmed it was a doe. I instantly started watching in the direction she had come from. About two minutes later I saw the buck coming, he was moving at a fast walk. I am naturally left handed but I shoot a rifle right handed. I did not have time to shift into position and shoot right handed so I moved the rifle to my left shoulder and fired. The 7mm-08 did it's job and the buck fell 50 yards from where I hit him.
