Hunt Story
The buck has frequented this spot, located in a live oak flat with cotton on one side and clear cut on the other, regularly over the past years. We assumed either him or his running mate would show up at some point. Opening afternoon I got to the stand around 4:45 pm and instantly had does all around. Roughly 6:00 pm I heard steps directly underneath the stand, when l looked down I was staring at the top of his rack. I could see the dried blood and remnants of his velvet hanging off. Once letting him get out front and ensuring it was the buck I thought it was, I then decided to take him. Due to the angle, the shot entered higher than expected but dropped the deer instantly.
