Hunt Story

This buck was seen in 2023 approximately 1 mile from my property. A friend of mine had numerous photos of him but never got a shot. They found his sheds and estimated his score at 150". Spring of 2024 came and my friend and I started feeding protein feed in our gravity feeders. The buck fed all summer on my friends property. When the 2024 deer season started, we knew he was something special from the numerous trail cam photos we had of him. We hunted him but never was able to connect with a shot. Thanksgiving week rolled around and we had not seen the buck on our trail cams for several weeks. We were sure he was off the property chasing doe. My friend had to go out of town for Thanksgiving and insisted I go to his property and hunt this deer. On the morning of November 25th, I was on his property hunting and I checked my trail cam photos and I had a picture of this buck approximately 1 mile to the East on my property in one of my food plots. I got down and drove to my property and went to an area where I could see several hundred yards in a clear cut hoping he was chasing doe. I never saw him. The afternoon rolled around and I went to the food plot where I received the photo early that morning of him. I climbed into my box stand at 3:30 and at approximately 4:25 2 doe came out and he was right behind them. After telling myself to calm down, I started focusing on the shot. He finally made it to the edge of my food plot and at 80 yards, I put the cross hairs on his shoulder and told myself squeeze the trigger, squeeze the trigger. At the shot , he dropped in his tracks. I was overwhelmed with emotions. This was the largest buck I had ever seen much less kill. I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity to hunt and harvest a great Georgia buck like this. My taxidermist aged him at 4 1/2 years old and gross green scored him at 172" I thank God everyday for this wonderful memory that I will always cherish.
