Hunt Story

At approximately 5:56, a small buck entered the food plot from the northeast corner and began feeding. After a few minutes, this big buck entered the food plot from the same location. He worked his way across the food plot and locked up when he was downwind of the wax myrtle I had sprayed with Bow Hunter's Fatal Obsession. Then, he turned broadside and I squeezed the trigger. The big buck immediately ran as if I hadn't hit him. He ran approximately 75 yards and stopped. I waited 5 minutes and climbed down to attempt to locate blood before light faded. As I made it to where he was standing when I shot, he took off through the swamp, splashing through water and tearing down limbs/trees. I heard him stop again and realized he was not hit good. As I scanned the ground where he was standing, I found white hair and stomach content but, no blood! I searched approximately 30 yards and did not find a spec of blood; however, I continued finding stomach content. I decided to back out and come back in the morning. I knew the temperature would get down in the mid 20s and the meat would be fine, if I could recover him. At approximately 8:30, myself and two VERY GOOD friends started tracking the buck. Within 10 minutes we found him. He didn't go more than 150 yards from where he was standing at the time of the shot.
