Hunt Story
My Dad and I started getting pictures of this buck back in July. I named him "Reiner" and decided to make him my main target buck. The evening of September 30th we decided to sit in a double stand to see if Reiner or a doe would come out and offer a shot. Movement was pretty slow but we had two small bucks come out about 7:15. We saw a doe off in the distance but it didn't look like she was going to make her way into bow range before dark. All of a sudden as good shooting light was starting to fade out, Reiner walked into range from behind a brushy tree. We didn't even see him until he was 20 yards away! I had to stand up to aim because I am too short to sit down and shoot out of that stand. I slowly got to my feet so Reiner or the other little buck wouldn't see me and began to aim. I became very nervous but was able to make a perfect shot and we watched him fall! It was awesome to get my target buck down so early in the season, and it was a special moment for my Dad and I to share in the woods while we admired his rack.
