Hunt Story

I first saw two does on the far side of the food plot about 150 yards away. I had my grunt call hanging around my neck, and I knew it was the right time to hit it a couple of times. Just as I did, the first doe went into the volunteer pines next to the food plot. The other was just on the edge of the field as I hit the call. Within 3 minutes I heard something walking on the edge of the fence line. I could see a moving figure and knew it was a deer. I started to bring up my gun as he jumped the fence. He then looked at the doe on the edge of the field and began walking toward me, although he was behind a branch of the pine tree next to my right. As soon as he came around from behind it, I stopped him with a short and sharp grunt 15 yards away. I then took the shot and saw the impact and knew it was a good shot right behind the shoulder.
