Hunt Story

We walked in along the creek bed until we came up on this food plot we have never seen before. Fresh rubs and scrapes everywhere. Knew it was a prime spot with at least one quality buck. My friend and I then set up covering both sides of the field so me and my friend Jeff could see the entire field. When it got about 4:45, I started using my Extinguisher call grunting twice and bleating once. I did two cycles of this, and at 5:10 when I hit the grunt he came running in. I focused my scope and shot him in the neck. He dropped like a brick. We waited about 5 minutes to make sure he was deceased. he was bigger than I realized. Then we found out we ended up somewhere we wasn’t sure. My flashlight died and we were lost. I had to call 911 to contact DNR to locate us. My friend made us a fire with his electronic vape to start it. We were lost for 3.5 hours until the DNR could locate the coordinates I sent. The game warden Mr. Manning was a very nice guy who drove us over to get my deer and took us back to my truck. A great day with some discomforting moments. God blessed me with a great mountain WMA deer, and my friend and I with good DNR to rescue us. CRAZY
