Hunt Story

This is my second year going bow-only on our family's farm. I had tried to get on this buck last year and never got him inside 70 yards. Fast forward this year, he was back and put on quite a few more inches. Being at UGA this year allowed me to come home and hunt when things started ramping up. I got in the stand around 5:30, much later than I hoped to due to a test; however, after 45 minutes a hawk flew right under my stand startling me. I looked down to see what he was after and noticed a black snake crawling around. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a doe and yearling step out. Before I stood up, I looked around to make sure nothing was behind me. When I turned back, she was alert and staring at something. I peeked around the tree and saw "Kicker" coming straight in. As they locked eyes, I eased up and prepared for the shot. She turned and ran into the pines, he followed and came to 35 yards when I stopped him and made the shot. I backed out and came back after an hour with my dad, brother, cousin and one of dad's friends to track him. After about 50 - 60 yards, we found my buck piled up and the high fives and hugs began.
