Hunt Story
We saw 5 deer total on this hunt. The first was a doe followed by a small 6-point. Carson never had a clear shot on the 6-point, so we watched as he passed through. Some time passed when Carson spotted a piebald doe feeding towards the stand and made the comment he hoped a big buck was following behind. She fed past us and was almost out of site when a buck came running off the hillside and chased her off. We glimpsed the buck through the trees a few times but couldn't get a clear view of him as he returned to the hillside. We watched as he chased the piebald doe off several more times but never offered a clear shot. After about 45 minutes, the buck and a doe fed down the hill and he turned broadside at about 75 yards. I handed the gun off to Carson and coached him through the shot. The buck hunched his back in the air, spun around and walked about 20 yards before disappearing behind some brush to bed down. We gave the deer 30 minutes before following up to retrieve the deer. A few pictures and phone calls later and the work started. I couldn't have asked for a better hunt or a better hunting partner. He kept calm while I was a nervous wreck and all the while this was his first deer let alone an awsome buck...
