Hunt Story
I had worked ahead at school so that I was able to miss two days during the rut in Dodge County. It paid off with me killing the biggest buck so far of my life. On the first evening of my 4-day hunt, we had seen some deer that morning and decided to go back to the same area of the club. I made the decision to trade stands with my step-dad Curtis, so that I could sit in the same stand I killed my very first buck ever (my first buck was a 3-point). I finally got settled in the stand around 4:00, and then around 4:45 p.m. I saw the Big 8 for the first time about 130 yards away but was unable to make a good shot because he never stopped. I text Curtis and told him that I had seen the Big 8 but was unable to get the shot off. He text me and told me to be patient and to stay on high alert since he was cruising he may come back through. At 5:33 p.m. he stepped out about 15 yards from me and started to walk straight away from me. I raised my rifle to shoot and felt myself rushing the shot. I took a deep breath and said a prayer and dropped him in his tracks!!! As soon as I shot I hollered I had him!!!
