Hunt Story

On the morning of October 21,2015 I put on all my camp gear along with my hunter safety orange vest and then my Gorilla hunter safety harness and then applied scent killer super charged cover scent. Shortly before 0700 my friend and I parted ways from camp into the woods. I arrived at my ladder stand and climbed into it and strapped my safety harness to the tree and then placed my Remington 700 30-06 across my lap. I noticed it was 0706 and used my grunt call twice. A few minutes later I heard a low grunt and returned a low short grunt. At this time there was a light breeze, and I could hear the light steps of walking from behind me. I continued looking right and left, when I looked left again I saw the large antlers coming in on the trail about 25 yards away. I raised my rifle and took a deep breath and placed the crosshairs behind his front right shoulder and squeezed the trigger. I heard him run back behind me and then a crashing noise. I noticed it was 0736, so I waited until 0806 before coming down to locate him. I then came down but saw no blood at first until about 10 yards away, and I continued searching until locating the beautiful buck about 40 yards away. This was my biggest buck ever and first year back hunting since I was 18.
