Hunt Story
The week before the hunt we were seeing minimal signs of deer in the foot plots and fields. I decided to move a climber into the hardwoods; hoping it would change my luck.... After the morning hunt was over in the foot plot, I proceeded to move my climber to a hardwood location that I have been curious of for some time. When I arrived at the spot I wanted to place a stand, I had to climb a pretty significant hill upon reaching the peak of the hill..... BOOM There he was, we made eye contact. He smiled at me and gingerly walked off. I decided to place my climber at this location for the evening hunt. Fast forward to the evening, I was in the stand poised for him to walk out at 3:30 that afternoon. Around 5:00 I heard a buck grunting in the distance, 30 minutes later the deer walked out. I watched him work his way in at about 15 yards away. I took the shot. BOOM he ran 50 yards from where I shot. And I recovered the deer.
