Hunt Story

Hunting a hardwood bottom off of a big clearcut. Very quiet until just before 10 had only seen one doe. Then all of a sudden I hear deer running to my right and three bucks come running in to within 20 yards, busted me (15-foot double ladder with a blind in January really stands out). But anyway they take off in different directions. I follow the biggest which ran off behind me, and he stops at 80 yards, and with the leaves off the trees I was able to find an opening and squeezed off. He bound off like he'd never been hit. I waited on my brother to come help. We found no blood, so we separated and started walking and he was laying 80 yards next to the creek. We recovered the bullet in the opposite shoulder, never bled a bit. We found out later the reason the three bucks came running in on me was because other members were pulling chairs and cameras out and spooked them to me. Last day of the season adrenaline was pumping after this hunt. Thanks to Chad and Frank for helping me drag, I'd still be there dragging if it wasn't for family and friends.
