Hunt Story
After several sits of not seeing any deer, I began to get daytime pictures of deer from my camera. I received a morning picture of the buck on Thursday and decided I would hunt the stand near the camera Saturday morning. On Friday evening I hunted my stand on the other side of my property. I got to my stand around 4 p.m. and after seeing no deer the buck came walking out from the pines at 5:30 p.m. He stopped briefly before starting to walk again. I fired once from my 30-06 rifle and watched him run. He dropped to the ground and I could see the white of his belly from my stand. He is my largest buck ever taken and he was taken to the taxidermist for a shoulder mount. He weighed over 165 pounds after being field-dressed.
