Arrived at Clybel for the quota hunt on the morning of the hunt as it rained the previous day and I did not have time to scout. I went to a location I had hunted the previous two years and set up my climber as daybreak came. I heard 5 shots between sunrise and 0830 AM. At 0845 I heard walking behind me and slowly looked behind me. I saw a buck approaching my stand and turned to get a shot. The buck either heard me or saw me move. He snorted at me and ran back a few feet and stood broadside. I was able to turn and hit him in the heart with my savage 30-06 rifle. He crashed into the ground and ran about 40 yards. I recovered him after climbing down from my stand. He is my largest buck since I started hunting when I was 16 years old. I was very happy with him especially harvesting him on a WMA. I will be getting a shoulder mount.
