Hunt Story
I hunted this buck all season and saw him two times before this with my bow; however, never had a vital shot that I could take. We hunted the last day before having to go back to work from Thanksgiving break, and it was pretty chilly and I was hunting out of a lock-on over a food plot, but it definitely had made the bucks move. Saw several bucks before he came out. He came out around 5ish with a doe from the corner of the food plot, but ended up getting spooked immediately from another buck pushing does and those does running out of the food plot. He eventually came back around, but was more like 150 yards at that point. I waited until he got broadside and took my shot. He spun around like he was confused and I was thinking to myself that I might have missed. Then he started running off to the left and I took another shot while he was running. I had to wait to go retrieve, since both my husband and my son were still hunting. At the point of retrieval it was super dark and we didn’t find any blood. We looked about 30 minutes and I was walking back to give up, and that’s when I found him about 50 yards from where I shot him and both shots were in the lungs. The great part of this hunt is that my son shot his shooter buck as well.
